Are you sabotaging yourself with food (or really t Are you sabotaging yourself with food (or really trying to help yourself?)

On the surface when you’re in an emotional eating spiral it feels like the sh*t hit the fan.

You’re out of control with food. Again.

And you feel like a failure.

What if I told you that you weren’t failing, that you were doing the only thing you know to do when you feel stressed, emotionally overwhelmed and uncomfortable. Which is to eat.

You’re automatically doing the only thing that has worked to help you soothe yourself and get back to some semblance of calm.

You’re trying to help yourself in the best way you “know” how.

I get it, it isn’t healthy. But it’s subconscious, automatic, annoying and the way you learned to cope (with food).

Now, when you realize this maybe you’ll have a bit more compassion for yourself and try to resolve this pattern vs. bully or bulldoze yourself with willpower or shame.

This is a hard one for my clients because in the first few weeks of working with me I see how they keep thinking “ugh I’m a failure why can’t I stop eating?”. And I really need to keep telling them this is what they’ve learnt and now we are learning and embodying what they really needed - to move through their emotions.

To be honest, that takes some time. For some more time than others. Because they really need to “get” that food is what they run too instead of being with their emotions.

And I get it - it can be scary and feel unsafe to be with emotions. Maybe if you expressed emotions you were punished. That’s why it’s helpful to work with someone to help you create safety, to resource and help you gradually build up the strength and capacity to move through your emotions that are running your emotional eating pattern.

This is part of what we do inside of The Emotional Eating Evolution Program with 1:1 somatic work, guided meditations and a step by step process to get you to ease and peace around food and in your body in a sustainable way.

If you are ready to resolve this pattern at the root then book in an Emotional Eating Clarity call to see how I can support you. DM “program” to connect✨
One of the hardest things I had to do to stop my e One of the hardest things I had to do to stop my emotional eating was…

To let go of diets.

To let go of counting calories.

To let go of macros.

To let go of rigidly controlling food.

When I was controlling food, I felt very out of control and thoughts of food consumed my mind.

I was micromanaging food, if I went out I’d feel guilty like “oh no I ate too much”,

I had reached a point where I could no longer live like this, and needed to break this pattern.

I had just moved to Korea and I was experimenting with eating whatever I wanted. This left me feeling even more our of control because I hadn’t healed my emotional eating. So I was still using food to soothe me.

I needed to figure this out asap.

Once I started figuring out how to resolve my emotional eating that cleared more and more space so I could hear the hunger of my body.

I started to trust when I was truly hungry, I could feel how satisfying certain foods felt, and I started to learn what my body needed and for the first time noticed my true eating patterns. This started to transform my relationship to food and my body.

This eventually evolved and now I teach this framework to my clients inside of The Emotional Eating Evolution Program so they can start connecting back to food, and their body and stop using food to cope, soothe or regulate their nervous system.

When you do this - you don’t need to count calories, or macros or be a slave to a diet. These things can create more stress and trigger you into emotional eating and overeating. This was the case for me and many of my clients.

If you’d like support in resolving your emotional eating so you can feel at ease and peace around food and in your body then apply to work with me in The Emotional Eating Evolution Program. DM “program” to chat✨
Why Can’t I Stop Emotional Eating When I’m Stresse Why Can’t I Stop Emotional Eating When I’m Stressed?

Have you ever found yourself at the end of a stressful day reaching for food? You know you’re not physically hungry, but you’re still grabbing something to eat. You might think, why am I doing this?

You’ve promised yourself you’re not going to emotionally eat anymore.

You make this promise to yourself, only to find yourself going through the cupboards and looking for something. If you’ve ever wondered why stress overrides all of your best intentions, then this video is for you.

One of the most common things I hear from women is, “I was doing well until this stressful thing happened”.

Maybe they had parenting stress or something happened to their child. Maybe it’s relationship stress. Financial stress. They feel overwhelmed by life.

Something came out of the blue and just pulled the rug out from under them.

And suddenly, food becomes the only thing they can think about.

We have to learn to ride the waves of life. And we don’t, emotional eating will continue.

Check out the video on how to get a handle on emotional eating when life feels stressful. Comment or DM “stressed” and I’ll send the full video over✨
Calorie counting can trigger emotional eating. (An Calorie counting can trigger emotional eating. (And why I don’t think you need to count calories)

I was an avid calorie counter for years. I ate what a person my size and weight needed in order to lose and eventually maintain my weight.

I would be starving at the end of the day because I was physically hungry and sometimes emotionally hungry.

When I started healing my emotional eating I threw out the scale, the calories, the macros and started with simple steps.

Because I realized the body is intelligent. But as a society we want to outsource this skill because we think something is wrong with us and the perfect plan will fix us.

And yes I get that we all want the “final” answer. I have a degree in biological chemistry and I’ve worked as an analytical chemist. If numbers knew everything we won’t still be stuck. We need a more holistic and connected approach to this.

If you really listen to your body it will tell you things your mind won’t like:

* If you eat more that you should one day, the next you might not be as hungry.
* If you eat less, you might want a bigger meal or want to eat earlier.
* If you have a late dinner, you’re probably going to have a late breakfast as your body digests.

But those with a skewed relationship to food (ahem if you emotionally eat), force themselves into rigid boxes, shame themselves, tell themselves they were bad or didn’t have enough willpower. (Is this you?)

You can connect back to your body and food - I haven’t counted a calorie in over 10 years or emotionally eaten, I have muscle, I don’t think I’m deficient in protein, I feel satisfied with my meals and have energy.

This is possible if you learn about your body and how to listen to it. Because you might one day end up in Morocco and there won’t be many calorie labels. This is what we do inside of The Emotional Eating Evolution Program.

If you’d like to get started on the first step in resolving your emotional eating and trusting your body then grab my free guide. Comment or DM “guide” and I’ll send it over✨
I would never do these 3 things if I wanted to res I would never do these 3 things if I wanted to resolve my emotional eating

1. Keep on dieting and restricting.

Your body is more intelligent than a diet is and will tell you when you are hungry, and how much to eat. If you can start to trust yourself and take back your sovereignty from all the noise out there. FYI when you restrict you activate the “give me food” messages by your starved brain. Of course as an emotional eater you need to relearn true hunger in the body.

2. Shaming my body.

Getting to the right size does not deliver your worth or value. Shaming yourself or being critical shifts your nervous system to stress mode which makes “your healthy body” a distant dream because the stress makes you moody, messes with your confidence, makes your body hold onto weight. Oh, and as an emotional eater - triggers your urge to soothe with food.

3. Dismissing my emotions.

Emotions are not just our there in the air, they are real signals in your body. They are also not meant to be controlled. Emotions have information and when you learn to process them at the root you stop using food to soothe and can hear what you really need. This is not fluffy work if you have a coping mechanism like emotional eating, it’s important.

These sound simple and in a way they can be, but I find with clients they are running these messages on autopilot and can’t see how it’s impacting them.

Inside of The Emotional Eating Evolution Program we shift these old ways of thinking and being so you can get to ease, peace and confidence around food and in your body in a sustainable way.

If you’d like support in resolving your emotional eating from the root then book in a clarity call to see how I can support you in the program. Link in bio✨
The Clients Who Get Sustainable Results All Have T The Clients Who Get Sustainable Results All Have This in Common

After helping many women heal from emotional eating, I’ve noticed something interesting: the women that get the most profound results all have this in common.

You might think that these women were perfectly consistent, had no fear, completely trusted the process and were confident from the start. But that’s not what I see.

In fact, most of my most successful clients start off with some fear and uncertainty. However, deep down, they know this is the right path forward because they understand something that most of us don’t.

Whenever we feel fear, it’s because we’re going towards something unfamiliar. It’s different. It’s not what we would expect. It’s not what we’ve done before.

That’s why it’s super easy for you to sign up for a challenge or a diet plan. It feels comfortable. There’s little resistance because you’ve done it before, time and time again. And that’s exactly what keeps you trapped in the cycle that doesn’t work.

And if you’re going to heal your emotional eating, you’re going to have to take steps that aren’t familiar to you.

Let’s dive in. Comment or DM “results” and I’ll send you the full video✨
Emotional eating became automatic instead of this Emotional eating became automatic instead of this (what you actually needed)

So is healing your emotional eating as easy as feeling your emotions?

If it was that easy you wouldn’t have developed emotional eating as a coping mechanism to soothe yourself from your emotions.

You decided a long time ago as a child to use food because you didn’t have the modelling from your parents or caregivers to move through discomfort, stress and uncomfortable emotions. This would have needed to be a repetitive process not a one and done thing.

Instead, you had to cope. And food became the way you did that.

So you were never taught how to move through emotions to get to calm and clarity in a repetitive way so it would be automatic to process emotions.

What became automatic for you was to use food to soothe.

And while I can simply say “be with your emotions” it’s not that easy because you’ve developed so many protections against feeling your emotions.

You might dismiss them and think you shouldn’t feel this way.

In our society we dismiss emotions because we’re not being “logical”. Here’s the truth - feeling your emotions opens up more logic and clarity because we calm our nervous system which creates more ease and peace in our body and around food.

It’s not always easy to be with your emotions but it’s possible and part of the work to healing emotional eating. This is a big part of what we do inside of The Emotional Eating Evolution Program.

How fear keeps you stuck in emotional eating. Ha How fear keeps you stuck in emotional eating.

Have you noticed that when you try to do something about your emotional eating, that voice in your head gets louder?

You might not even “hear” what you are telling yourself because your body shut down, felt anxious or you even went to food to soothe yourself.

Change is uncomfortable, even the idea of it.

Getting out of your comfort zone can be scary, your fears will try to convince you to stay the same.

It’s coming from a good place, your mind wants you to be safe.

But to your mind safe = familiar. Even if what is familiar isn’t working for you.

This holds you back from making the changes you want to make.

Your mind will try to keep you safe, but that keeps you stuck.

It can look like
-I don’t have the time
-I don’t have the money
-I don’t like to cook
-I need life to be perfect (ummm)
-Life needs to calm down
-Etc.

I’m not one to dismiss fear or any emotion that comes up. I sit with it, see what it’s trying to do and from that clarity make my decision.

Is the fear true is it really helping you or is it making you stay stuck in a cycle that doesn’t work for you?

Sometimes we know what we need to do and there’s still a bit a of fear. It’s in the doing that the fear dissipates.

Inside of The Emotional Eating Evolution Program we work with these fears so that you can get to clarity and take the steps needed to change your emotional eating.

But the first step is on you to decide if you want to change.

If you’d like support in resolving your emotional eating from the root so you can have ease and peace around food and in your body then book in a clarity call. DM “clarity” to chat✨
This Is Probably Why You’re Still Struggling With This Is Probably Why You’re Still Struggling With Emotional Eating

If you’ve been trying to heal your emotional eating for months or maybe even years, and you still feel stuck – this might be the reason why.

And it’s probably not what you think.

It’s not that you’re not trying hard enough. It’s not that you don’t have enough discipline or willpower. It’s not that you don’t know enough about nutrition.

The reason might be that you’re avoiding the thing that would actually create sustainable change for you.

Most women that I’ve talked to, and most women I’ve worked with, have tried so many things before they start working with me.

They’ve tried the diets, cutting out sugar, working with a personal trainer, they’ve gone to talk therapy, doing somatic work and even psychedelics. They’ve done mindset work and tried to have more control around food.

And every time they try one of these different approaches, there’s hope. Like, “finally, I’ll heal this emotional eating”.

But eventually their emotional eating comes back.

It’s because they’re trying to solve a root level problem with surface solutions.

So here’s what I’ve noticed.

Comment or DM “root” and I’ll send you the full video✨
