Sharing Miranda’s story of resolving her emotion Sharing Miranda’s story of resolving her emotional eating👇🏽

Miranda came to me to help her resolve her emotional eating. She had had enough of hiding this pattern and feeling that spiral of shame. She had gone to therapy in the past but this pattern was still coming up. 

She signed up for the program, invested and took the next steps.

How did she do it?

➡As soon as she joined the program she went through an unexpected breakup and had to move. But she still kept her commitment to herself and started the program a bit later.

➡She followed the step by step process and showed up each week to coaching calls to gain clarity, to keep up momentum to move past her resistance. 

➡She started to see her patterns, and became more aware. She started to feel good in her body and empowered and that motivated her to continue. 

➡We dove deeper with the somatic meditations that helped to clear out the deeper roots creating her emotional eating pattern.

Miranda had a lot happen in the span of the program that could have triggered emotional eating; she was going through a breakup, she had to move 2x, had to find a new apartment and got sick and couldn’t see her family for the holidays. 

She didn’t have an emotional eating episode during that time and was able to move through the program because of her commitment and the support in the group. In her own words she said “You changed my life”. 

During the program she started to feel...

✨In control

✨Free

✨Not restricted around food, having a relationship to food like the French

✨She had a deeper connection to the food she ate.

✨Was more energized (no 3pm slump) and motivated to discover herself.

Years later she hasn’t fallen back into emotional eating!

Sometimes we say it’s not the right time, but in life we never know what could happen, as in Miranda’s case. Just know you are worthy of resolving this pattern.

They can ignite emotional eating as your body tries to soothe and regulate itself.

We can try to control food but…
👉🏽It’s not really the apple that’s the root cause. 

Your boss says something → it touches an old wound → your nervous system fires cortisol → blood sugar spikes → mood dips → cue emotional eating.

So what’s really happening? 
It’s not about willpower. It’s about how you learned to deal with  emotions and old patterns that your body doesn’t know how to resolve. 

The deeper question is:
Why is your boss triggering such intensity in your body? 
And how do you actually move through this without using food to buffer your experience and get back to calm?

And yes we can support the body with nourishing food…
But there’s more here than eating your apple with almond butter (I don’t 🤫) and mindfulness won’t shift the pattern.

What I shared in the carousel is something I see in almost every woman I work with - how food becomes the stand-in for love, comfort, and connection.

Here’s the deeper truth👇🏽

Food is inherently nourishing, it literally gives to the body. My son loves when I make him food. I infuse my love into it and it’s nutrient dense and tastes amazing lol 

But when food is mistaken as love that is where we go wrong.

We are addicted to food because it will fills us with the substitute of love but only true connection and presence can do that. When we use food as a substitute it becomes the enemy. 

Subconsciously we want it to fill the void while consciously we shame ourselves for it.

Food is meant to nourish us, not numb us.

When we’re truly physically hungry food satisfies.
When we’re emotionally hungry food just covers the pain.

I’m not saying don’t celebrate with food. I love food. I’m saying let’s start meeting our true needs and stop using food to fill a hole it was never meant to fill. 

That’s when food returns to its rightful place - pleasure, nourishment, ease.

Emotional Eating: Why Controlling Food Isn’t the Emotional Eating: Why Controlling Food Isn’t the Solution

Most of my clients are ambitious women, and they desire ease and confidence around food and in their body. 

The obvious way that they’ve been told to get there is to start controlling food. 

They think if they can fix their control issue with food that they can finally get to the land of ease and confidence –  the result that they want. 

But of course, controlling food doesn’t fix emotional eating. 

AND emotional eating is what is preventing what they want. 

Because when you can’t physically eat more and you’re still thinking about food, there’s more going on. You haven’t hit the root of this pattern or this issue.

I recently had a client session and it made it so clear what is going on when you emotionally eat. 

There’s a diet part of you trying to control and might sound like:

🤨“I need x proteins, choose the lean option, not too much”

And the other part of you that seems to be sabotaging but is really the inner child:

👶🏽“I really want that cake bc it feels like love and I really need that now.”

🤨Diet part: “No make the right choice!”

👶🏽Inner child:”My emotional needs are stronger and older so I win. I only know to soothe with food.”

So the diet part loses because the emotional need is stronger so you emotionally eat. 

In order to resolve this inner battle requires a process but essentially you need to meet your deeper emotional needs, not with food but with real presence and integration.

This is deep work that we access through the body so you can transform these parts, get you emotional needs met, and learn how to nourish your body beyond the diet mentality.

I hear this from women all the time. They are wa I hear this from women all the time. 

They are waiting to live life, to be a certain size to wear the thing they want. 

As a teenager I consumed fashion magazines. Partly as a way to escape working in my parents store and to dream.

I fell in love with the art of fashion, the fabrics like silk, velvet, wool. 

Seeing unique looking models helped me feel ok with my differences. I was inspired by fashion as an expression. I made my own prom dresses, clothes, even a silk velvet backpack❤️

It has never mattered what size I was or how insecure I felt, I always wore what made me feel good. 

You don’t have to be a certain size to feel good in your clothes - don’t limit yourself, you don’t need to hide. Be in the process of change and embodying more of who you are and expressing it through clothes if you desire.

As you gain more body acceptance and resolve the roots of your body image and emotional eating patterns your body will shift to it’s healthy but be in acceptance now.

The Hidden Costs of Emotional Eating No One Talks The Hidden Costs of Emotional Eating No One Talks About 👇🏽

Emotional eating isn’t just about your relationship with food - it comes with many hidden costs. It impacts your confidence, your relationships, how you show up in your life, and it even impacts you financially. 

Today, I want to share with you how emotional eating is impacting you in these areas and how you can start shifting this pattern. 

I’m going to break it down a bit more, share some personal and client examples so that you can clearly see what’s been going on. 

When I think back to my journey with emotional eating and I look at the financial costs, I realize I was paying for a personal trainer, going to talk therapy, seeing a chiropractor, consulting a nutritionist and spending a lot on supplements. 

While  none of these things are bad or wrong - they weren’t really addressing the root cause: my emotional eating. I didn’t even I was an emotional eater despite seeing so many practitioners. 

I didn’t have a solid strategy or plan to get to the other side of this pattern.

Why these tactics don’t work long term to fight Why these tactics don’t work long term to fight your emotional eating urges.

I remember when I first learned I was an emotional eater. It was a lightbulb moment and I found out through a book. That very same book had tactics to help with emotional eating in the moment and all these reasons it could have happened.

I tried these tactics but I could never really figure out my trigger or heal the root. I had awareness but not a real solution. 

It might feel like a victory to just say no to your emotional eating urges. Instead of eating you:

took a walk
took a shower
called a friend
journalled

Essentially you distracted yourself from the urge and did not resolve the root of the pattern. 

That’s where I had to go deeper to the root and started to experiment and add in meditations to get to the root intuitively. And it started to work.

This eventually became the somatic meditations that are part of The Emotional Eating Evolution Program. They are a way to get to the root of your emotional eating pattern in the body where it lives. 

This isn’t about figuring it out from your head or managing urges because once you learn to heal the root and meet your true emotional needs food will not be an issue - because it was a bandaid all along.

Food freedom and why I think we need something dif Food freedom and why I think we need something different👇🏽

Something that i hear all the time in the emotional eating space is “I want food freedom”.

I get it - when I was so debilitated by food and emotional eating all I wanted to be was “free” of food. But the reality is that we need to live with food. 

I would swing from freedom with food to restriction and neither place felt good. I still felt controlled by food and uncomfortable in my body. 

Food sovereignty is where I ended up after resolving my emotional eating because food is not all neutral and has no impact on us. 

As we heal our emotional eating we can make sovereign choices about food and be ok with potential consequences that might come up without shame or guilt. This is how we create our way of being with food, our structure and flow to nourishment.
