How Being at War With Your Body Is Triggering Your How Being at War With Your Body Is Triggering Your Emotional Eating

What if your relationship to your body is contributing to your emotional eating?

Because if you’re struggling with emotional eating and you’re unhappy with your body, you might think, “If only I could lose the weight. If only my body looked a different. Then I wouldn’t feel this way anymore.”

And I used to believe that too.

I thought if I could finally change my body, I’d finally feel good enough, and all of this noise would go away. But what I eventually discovered was that being at war with my body was actually keeping me stuck in my emotional eating.

And today I want to tell you why.

Comment or DM “body” and i’ll send you the full video✨
How I help clients resolve their emotional eating👇 How I help clients resolve their emotional eating👇🏽

And no it’s not about willpower or restriction.

It’s about getting to the root of what is creating this pattern.

So, emotional eating is a coping mechanism. It’s the way you learned to soothe yourself from uncomfortable emotions, stressors and discomfort.

It’s not that you’re out of control - you’re using food in a way it wasn’t designed to be used. Which most likely started happening in childhood.

To let’s get to it…because I know you want ease and peace around food.

But in order to do that we need to resolve emotional eating in layers.

* Discern true from emotional hunger - this can be difficult for emotional eaters but helps to pinpoint triggers
* Accepting your body - this helps to calm the shame spirals that can trigger emotional eating
* Work on the triggers at the root and resolve it there so you no longer go to food to soothe because you’re meeting your deeper needs that you substituted with food.

When we work with emotional eating in this way, it’s not about restriction, it’s about sustainable change.

My clients go from not caring for vegetables to chopping them like it’s a regular Tuesday. They learn to nourish themselves and drop food as a bandaid. And they feel literal ease and peace in their body and around food that they haven’t before.

It’s emotional eating trigger season. What did you It’s emotional eating trigger season. What did your aunt say?

Do you find as you head into the holidays things just seem to get worse with your emotional eating?

I’ve had clients who can see the triggers coming for weeks. And it intensifies the regular emotional eating they usually have.

One of my clients knew that her family would freely comment on her body at the thanksgiving table. This had been happening for years.

She would get so triggered she would just eat, feel shame and keep on eating.

And that cycle repeated until we started working together.

We actively started working on her triggers, resolving them at the root with the somatic meditations in the program (with me and recorded ones she could keep practicing).

She used the tools in the program before these events (nourishing herself, working on her triggers in the meditations, etc).

As we kept doing the deeper emotional work her boundaries started to appear, she could speak up and also be at these events for less time or leave if she needed to.

This all came from an embodied place. She got through “trigger season” feeling more empowered, meeting her deeper needs and not emotionally eating . This lead to more ease and peace at a time a year that feels anything but that.

How Avoiding Your Emotions Can Keep You Stuck in E How Avoiding Your Emotions Can Keep You Stuck in Emotional Eating👇🏽

What if one of the things keeping you stuck in your emotional eating is your desire to get away from your emotions?

So I want to tell you a story about a client of mine who came to me after using plant medicine because she wanted to change the way she felt about food and stop emotionally eating.

She had used plant medicine to help her with her emotional eating, and the medicine kept telling her the same message: she needed to figure out how to find ease, peace and oneness in real life – not just by using this modality.

I think there was something we often misunderstand about emotional eating. We feel like we must escape it. We want relief. Of course, it feels torturous to be eating food and feeling out of control.

You might realize you feel anxious, sad, or overwhelmed. And you don’t necessarily want to sit there and just feel all of that. You want it to stop.

And that’s exactly what food does. It gives you temporary relief. Much like that plant medicine journey gave my client relief, food is doing something very similar.

Let’s dive in to see how to start resolving emotional eating and not stay stuck. Comment or DM “stuck” and I’ll send you the full episode✨
Micromanaging food after emotionally eating is mak Micromanaging food after emotionally eating is making you eat more.

I see this with my clients all the time…they feel out of control with food because they don’t eat well or overeat or emotionally eat and they think if only they cut back that would solve all their problems.

They would lose the weight and finally feel confident.

But if it was so easy, it would be easy. But it’s not.

Your willpower can’t outpower your emotional eating.

Without healing the root of your emotional eating you will default to food to cope. Because when you heal this pattern and meet your true needs then food can be food - no control needed. And your body as well.

When you willpower and shame yourself for how you are eating that creates more urges to emotionally eat because you use food to soothe your discomfort, your feelings of “not good enough”, your unresolved emotions.

But food is a bandaid. Controlling the bandaid doesn’t resolve this pattern.

In order to resolve emotional eating you need to meet your deeper emotional needs when your emotional eating comes up. This is what we do inside of The Emotional Eating Evolution Program.

Why restricting food intensifies your food noise a Why restricting food intensifies your food noise and emotional eating…

When you emotionally eat - you feel out of control with food and restriction seems like the best solution.

Restricting means you’re either avoiding hunger or limiting food which means you are not nourishing yourself.

If your brain is starved for calories and nutrients it will say “eat more food” and you’ll have more food noise which can lead to bingeing (not quite emotional eating)

The other reason emotional eating intensifies? Is that you are taking away the only thing you have to help you numb or soothe your uncomfortable emotions when triggered. It’s a coping mechanism you would have had since you were younger.

If you take it away it without meeting your true needs it’s like taking a safety blanket from someone - it triggers emotional eating even more because it’s a survival pattern.

Both lead to more intense food noise and cravings for food.

If you want to resolve your emotional eating and get to ease and peace around food and in your body you need to:

1.learn to nourish your body and
2.meet your deeper emotional needs.

This is what we doing inside of The Emotional Eating Evolution Program. If you’d like support in your journey then DM “clarity” chat more about the program✨
If I Had to Heal My Emotional Eating Again, I’d Ne If I Had to Heal My Emotional Eating Again, I’d Never Do These 3 Things

If I had to heal my emotional eating all over again, there are three things I wouldn’t do. And if you’ve done these things as well it’s not because you’re a bad person or you’re failing. It’s that we’ve been sold certain lies.

I experienced doing these things, and what I found is that when I was doing them, they kept me stuck in my emotional eating.

And I find with clients it’s really common for them to be doing these 3 things without even realizing it. It’s become automatic.

So today I’m going to share with you the 3 things I would stop doing if I wanted to heal my emotional eating again and what I’d do instead.

So, the first thing I would stop doing is dieting and restricting.

Let’s dive in. Comment or DM “3 things” and I’ll send you the full video with the other two✨
How do you get to ease and peace with food? If I How do you get to ease and peace with food?

If I boil it down…my journey with food began around restriction, in an effort to control my body…because I was seeking love and acceptance.

I never felt good enough and was criticized a lot.

So I thought if I could get to “that place” I’d finally feel ok. I restricted food, only to use it to soothe my emotions.

I tried so many things and what I tried didn’t help. The diets, the therapy, the nutritionist, the trainer…

When the noise got too loud I flipped my life upside down. I moved to Korea thinking I could start fresh, but I felt more out of control.

So I decided to do things in a new way. I rolled up my sleeves and put my scientist hat on.

I started to nourish my body, not restrict.

I started to accept my body when I didn’t like what I saw in the mirror.

And I started feeling all the things that I tried to run away from.

And somehow that got me closer to what I was really craving - love and acceptance.

I didn’t expect my body to change but it did. I had more energy, better digestion, I wanted to workout, I felt more confident and my body started to let go of the mental and physical weight I was carrying.

I started to see food as food, not a bandaid, I started to live in my body not only focus on what it looked like and I started to meet my emotional needs and care for myself.

The result was the ease and peace I was looking for, but I got so much more than that. And this was the foundation to The Emotional Eating Evolution Program.

Emotional eating is multilayered and in order to resolve it you need a process. If you’re looking for support DM “clarity” to learn more about how I can support you✨
Why you keep hitting the same wall (as an emotiona Why you keep hitting the same wall (as an emotional eater)

I recently spoke to a woman who had been working with a nutritionist for a few months, but she kept hitting the same wall.

She was still binging at night, she was blocked grocery shopping, and wasn’t making time for meals.

She felt she was sabotaging herself.

And this is what I help clients with - all of the things under the surface keeping you from taking the actions that would support you. The simple things like make a meal, eat when you’re hungry, move your body, etc.

But it’s not that simple when you’re an emotional eater you use food as a coping mechanism to soothe and comfort yourself which makes the simple todos harder.

When I work with clients in The Emotional Eating Evolution Program we’re resolving emotional eating at the root so you can start nourishing yourself, accepting yourself and moving through the emotions running the show.

We’re clearing the blocks so you can get to ease and peace around food and in your body in a more effortless way.
