Hello love,
If you ever find yourself reaching for food when you’re not physically hungry, this can indicate that you’re engaging in emotional eating.
Emotional eating is a coping mechanism. It’s something many of us developed when we were very young in order to deal with our discomfort, distress, or uncomfortable emotions.
We developed this coping mechanism because we didn’t have the parents or caregivers there to help us move through discomfort in a healthy way.
In this video I help you understand what some of your triggers might look like on the surface that make you go towards food for soothing.
I typically work with ambitious women to help them get to the root of their emotional eating so that they can experience ease, peace and confidence around food and in their bodies – freeing up their energy to go after their goals.
By the end of today’s video, you’ll have a more awareness of what emotional eating triggers can look like, and how to start moving beyond this pattern.
Triggers are important to identify because not every time we eat means we’re emotionally eating. Different events, people or feelings in our lives that can trigger this urge to turn to food. These triggers aren’t usually obvious to clients which means they can’t spot their pattern before the urge comes on. Today, I’m going to share a few examples that may help you have some “aha” moments.
Full disclaimer: Every person is going to have their unique set of triggers. When I work with clients in The EEE Program, we uncover their individual triggers and observe their patterns in much more detail.
