Hello love,

Emotional eating can feel like an invisible wall that’s holding you back from your goals. And if you’re an ambitious woman, you’ve probably been trying all the things to help you move past this wall. It can be frustrating because you can succeed in many areas of your life, but this one thing keeps derailing you and you keep falling back into emotional eating.

So why do you keep hitting this invisible wall?

It probably feels like you keep bumping into this wall whenever you’re trying to meet certain goals.

Maybe you start a new plan, you’re trying to be consistent and to just feel OK in your body and around food. You are disciplined and using your willpower, but it doesn’t work. You end up back in the emotional eating spiral.

So this wall and moving past it isn’t really about willpower or discipline. It’s so much deeper than that.

So what is this invisible wall really about?

Emotional eating really isn’t about the food. It’s about the unprocessed emotions, the stress, the discomfort that you experience, that you aren’t able to move through. For a lot of ambitious women what this looks like, is that you’re on all day, you don’t have time to be with and move through your emotions, because achieving and being motivated throughout the day equals safety.

You feel better when you’re doing and performing and you’re holding everything together.

When all of this is out of the way, usually at the end of the day, when everything slows down, this pattern hits.

You’re slowing down, there’s more space for all of this discomfort and distress to come up, and you automatically go to food, you find yourself snacking, emotionally eating, just craving the foods, and giving in.

Then you feel like, “What am I doing wrong?” And this really is the invisible wall you hit up against. You might think, “I’m being strategic, I’m planning, I’m doing everything right throughout the day, and yet here I am again and again.”
