Hello love,

Emotional eating comes with a lot of costs beyond the obvious.

Emotional eating isn’t just about your relationship with food – it comes with many hidden costs. It impacts your confidence, your relationships, how you show up in your life, and it even impacts you financially.

Today, I want to share with you how emotional eating is impacting you in these areas and how you can start shifting this pattern.

I’m going to break it down a bit more, share some personal and client examples so that you can clearly see what’s been going on.

When I think back to my journey with emotional eating and I look at the financial costs, I realize I was paying for a personal trainer, going to talk therapy, seeing a chiropractor, consulting a nutritionist and spending a lot on supplements. While  none of these things are bad or wrong – they weren’t really addressing the root cause: my emotional eating. I didn’t even I was an emotional eater despite seeing so many practitioners.

I didn’t have a solid strategy or plan to get to the other side. By the time I got to my breaking point and moved to Korea – I had spent thousands of dollars on all of these different modalities, yet I still didn’t know what was really going on.

This might be your experience as well. I’ve had clients that have been on Weight Watchers, gone to therapy for years, worked with personal trainer, are considering Ozempic, had surgery and tried alternative therapies. There’s a cost to all of this and yet  it’s not truly addressing the root of the pattern.

Maybe you’r spending money managing the symptoms of your emotional eating (like weight gain, digestive issues, mood imbalances, etc) without addressing the cause.

So the money hasn’t been invested in a real resolution. Yes, trial an error teaches you what doesn’t work, but if you can shorten the learning curve and invest in what does, you’ll finally have a sustainable path forward.

Let’s dive in:

  • 2:28 My client Kelly – in therapy for 3 years, binging daily for the last 1.5 years. This added up quickly. By the end of The EEE Program she stopped emotional eating, and saved enough to cover the cost of the program!
  • 3:19 The physical costs to emotional eating beyond weight gain and the “extra” expenses.
  • 5:30 The emotional and mental costs  – shame spirals, mental obsession and self criticism.
  • 6:33 How emotional eating impacts on your energy, your focus and ability to go after your goals because of low confidence.
  • 6:50 Not showing up fully to work or seizing opportunities
  • 7:40 Holding back from socializing
  • 8:10 Back to Kelly – how she started embodying more confidence at work and setting boundaries (no longer being targeted to take on “extra” work)
  • 10:48 Next steps and invitation
