So when most women think about emotional eating, they think the biggest problem is the food. Maybe the sugar, the chips, the cookies or the late night binge.

But what if I told you food isn’t the only thing impacting your health?

What if the emotions that are driving you to eat have an even bigger impact?

Have you ever noticed that when you’re stressed, your shoulders tighten? Or when you’re nervous, you get a knot in your stomach? Or when you’re trying to say something important, your throat tightens?

This isn’t random. These are examples of how emotions actually live in your body and manifest physically. Our bodies respond to emotions. They’re not just in our minds.

When your emotions aren’t processed, your nervous system stays in this heightened state of stress, discomfort and unease.

It doesn’t mean that you’re consciously thinking about the stress every waking moment of the day, but your body is still experiencing the effects of it.

Over time, you may notice things like muscle tension, digestive discomfort, shallow breathing fatigue, or difficulty relaxing.

This is your body responding to the to the emotional environment it’s living in.

Now imagine you’ve spent years using food to cope with your discomfort, your distress, your uncomfortable emotions. You’ve been using food to cope and soothe yourself.

Here’s what happens.
