Most of my clients are ambitious women, and they desire ease and confidence around food and in their body.
The obvious way that they’ve been told to get there is to start controlling food.
They think if they can fix their control issue with food that they can finally get to the land of ease and confidence – the result that they want.
But of course, controlling food doesn’t fix emotional eating. AND emotional eating is what is preventing what they want.
I know we’ve been sold so many things that promise us the “solution” to our emotional eating. Like the restrictive diets, keto, paleo, carbs, no carbs, intermittent fasting, prescriptions, or Ozempic. You walk away thinking there’s something wrong with your body that you need to medicate.
Maybe you’ve even gotten surgeries like gastric bypass. (A few off my clients have and it did not stop the food cravings in their head).
While all of these things aim to control your relationship to food or control the amount of food that you can eat, it’s not hitting the root of the problem.
Because when you can’t physically eat more and you’re still thinking about food, there’s more going on. You haven’t hit the root of this pattern or this issue.
Even talk therapy, while helpful in some ways, is often limited in resolving emotional eating because it doesn’t get to the root to create lasting change.
