A.N.’s journey to resolving her emotional eating A.N.’s journey to resolving her emotional eating👇🏽

When A.N. came to me she had tried a few programs + therapy to resolve her emotional eating.

A few weeks into the program A.N.’s nightly bingeing on ice cream resolved after her 1st somatic session and using the nourishment strategies in the program.

As we dove deeper into her patterns (program midpoint) things came to a head where everything felt like it was falling apart BUT it was where she started seeing all the things she was avoiding with food.

This was a HUGE breakthrough moment. Where she saw what she’s been hiding with food like lack of boundaries, taking on too much, etc…

This is SO amazing and where true change takes place. Where you see you can move through it, integrate and take the action steps to resolve this.

Through the program she:

👉🏽started to have more ease with food and nourished herself moving away from the diet rules that she felt shame about when she didn’t eat “right” which spiralled her into more emotional eating
👉🏽she started to see how “the body” she thought she needed to have was not really what her deep need was
👉🏽through the somatic meditation her nightly binges ended
👉🏽through the somatic sessions she got in touch with her true need for acceptance and saw a shift in how she felt about her body and in relationships
👉🏽she is aware of her triggers and has the tools to resolve them

She felt so much more connected to herself, what she needed and is taking the steps to live more as who she is :)

How Your Inner Child Drives Emotional Eating (and How Your Inner Child Drives Emotional Eating (and What to Do About It)👇🏽

Let’s talk about emotional eating and the inner child because understanding this connection is key if you’re trying to heal your relationship with food.

Through my own journey and working with clients, I’ve seen time and time again that emotional eating is a pattern deeply rooted in childhood.

Emotional eating is a coping mechanism. It’s a way we learn to soothe ourselves in the face of discomfort, distress, or overwhelming emotions—especially when we didn’t have caregivers who could help us process those feelings and guide us through them.

As children, without the support to navigate these hard emotions, we found our own ways to feel okay. And for many of us, food became the quickest, most accessible source of comfort.

Biochemically, eating releases dopamine in the brain, giving us a short-lived boost. But that relief is temporary—it doesn’t meet our deeper emotional needs. And over time, this becomes a patterned response.

So what’s really happening when you emotionally eat?

👉🏽Let’s dive in. Comment or DM “inner child” and I’ll send the full video over✨
Thinking hasn’t helped your emotional eating. H Thinking hasn’t helped your emotional eating. Have you tried feeling? Not just regulating.

Humans are forever trying to not feel.

But the way out is through.

You shut up your emotions with food, or regulate them.

You need to listen to them like a small child - with embodied compassion, empathy and attunement. When emotions feel heard they move through you. When you “regulate” you are trying to fix yourself.

Emotions are powerful and contain vital information about your life.

So numbing with food or chasing regulation defeats the nature and intelligence of emotions.

It’s time to feel.

The world is shifting, we can’t think our way out. We must feel our way through.

As a first step to resolving your emotional eating is to discern true from emotional hunger in an embodied way and catch your triggers.

If you’d like a free guide that helps with this then comment or DM “guide” and I’ll sent it over.
Looking back at my emotional eating journey it all Looking back at my emotional eating journey it all makes sense but when you’re in it you feel like you’re just grasping.

Every time I talk to women who are in the midst of their emotional eating I can see them grasping. They are looking for that solution.

I was the same way. I tried all the things I could get my hands on. I thought it was about the right diet, willpower, a personal trainer, talk therapy maybe a chiropractor.

Nothing worked and I had no real solutions. Things felt fleeting. I didn’t know what was happening.

After trying and failing to get sustainable results or a handle on my eating and body for years I felt defeated. I had reached my tipping point.

So I threw it all out the window. (The drama🙃)

I ate what ever I wanted. I moved countries. I changed jobs from a chemist to an english teacher.

I thought flipping my life upside down would be the solution. It was not.

But it made me face my emotional eating and the rock bottom I was in and I had to figure things out because my emotional eating was more activated than ever.

So I got to work and started putting the pieces together. Something that made a huge impact on me was learning to discern true from emotional hunger and knowing the signs. Something no professional told me. This helped me see my triggers and I finally had a step that felt tangible and like I was on the right track to resolving this pattern and one step closer to ease and confidence around food and in my body.

Emotional Eating is Holding You Back from More Tha Emotional Eating is Holding You Back from More Than Just Feeling at Ease and Confident Around Food and in Your Body…

You may feel like you have other areas of your life figured out, and on the surface, it might seem that way. But the way we feel about ourselves day in and day out along with the obsessive thoughts about food and our bodies, can drain a lot of our energy.

These patterns prevent us from moving toward what we truly desire in life and achieving our goals.

When we’re stuck in the emotional eating cycle, even if it’s not actively happening, there’s still this underlying feeling of not being good enough, or struggling with low self-worth or confidence.

It feels like a numbing pain beneath the surface—almost as if you’re just waiting for the emotional eating to take over again.

A lot of the women I work with hide this pattern, which means they live with a constant layer of shame.

This shame becomes a barrier that stops you from living your life to the fullest.

👉🏽Let’s dive in - comment “emotional” and I’ll send over the full video✨
The Truth About Emotional Eating No One’s Talkin The Truth About Emotional Eating No One’s Talking About 👀

Here are some of the biggest mistakes I see women with emotional eating making:

1.Relying on quick fix diets, intense exercise, willpower
2.Relying of the health system to fix the problem with pills, surgery or programs that don’t get to the root
3.Intuitive Eating
4.Over eaters Anonymous
4.Going to therapy and just talking about things

…And these are just some of the common ones.

Emotional eating is complex and multilayered, and to truly resolve it, we need to understand it from all angles and get to the root.

Your emotional eating is a coping mechanism. It’s connected to thoughts, emotions and stress. AND it’s tied into trauma which lives in the body.

Which is why quick-fix solutions, which give you a temporary result, will never work long term. Because it won’t address the deeper layers to your pattern. Like my client recently said after trying all the diets and emotional eating programs - they didn’t get to the core...

Why do you emotionally eat? Because of trauma. A Why do you emotionally eat?

Because of trauma.

And trauma is not a scary word.

Years ago I didn’t even know what trauma was. Looking back I didn’t know how to move through my emotions, I just held it in. And to cope with the pain I used food.

I didn’t know it then, but it’s obvious now that I didn’t have the skills to meet my true emotional needs. You may not have had “dysfunctional” upbringing but I’m sure all your needs were not met.

Trauma is really just unresolved emotions and events we experienced. If we can’t process these emotions we hold them in the body and we look for ways to numb the pain. Like with food (it’s drug of choice).

It’s really not about the food but kind of is (join my masterclass to dive deeper on this nuance!).

When I’m working with clients the root of their pattern is trauma that developed in childhood. Big T to small t, mostly small t.  You might not remember it but your body does and loves to cover it up with emotional eating urges.

It thinks it’s helping you by distracting you with food to get some relief but simultaneously it’s impacting how you feel about yourself and making you feel ashamed.

But there’s a way out and bonus when you do this you get to ease and peace around food and in your body. Your body literally shifts it’s nervous system from being in fight or flight to to calm.

It’s not about willpower, diets or any of that surface stuff. Some practitioner’s don’t really get it. You deserve understanding, support, and guidance — not more shame or quick fixes.

If you want to actually see what shifts your pattern with emotional eating I’ll be sharing more in my free masterclass for ambitious women looking for a solution that goes beyond just white-knuckling it through a binge with surface-level solutions.

In this masterclass, you’ll learn:

👉🏽 Why willpower isn’t the answer

👉🏽 Why diets fail you

👉🏽 What’s really triggering this pattern

👉🏽 The 3 Keys to resolving emotional eating

Don’t settle for surface solutions that don’t address the root cause. It’s time to take control of your emotional eating journey.

Why Willpower Won’t “Fix” Your Emotional Eat Why Willpower Won’t “Fix” Your Emotional Eating (And What Will)

I get it. I’m a pretty disciplined person and I can willpower and push through and I did for years with all the things (diets, exercise, therapy, etc). I remember when I lived in this tiny space and would spend all my money on therapy showing up week after week for almost 2 years, doing daily affirmations, re-writing my thoughts and mirror work yet nothing was shifting. I was eating my vegetables and working out diligently. I even added in a chiropractor and nutritionist and still nothing.

Months and eventually years went by and there was no real dent in my Emotional Eating. I still had emotional eating episodes.

I was still hitting up against the same wall and feeling like a failure. I just couldn’t make things stick.

My clients are the same way. They think they need more “willpower” to do the things perfectly and they keep hitting up against the same wall.

But this is just reinforcing that something is wrong with you. That you are not enough which couldn’t be further from the truth.

Yes, it’s true we need willpower to make changes in our life and this can happen easily if we have no resistance to that specific change.

Think about willpower as the tip of an iceberg - it has 5% power vs. your emotional eating pattern which is subconscious and has 95% power over your actions when triggered. When you drive a car, you don’t think about it and you get to your destination - automatically. That’s because it’s subconscious.

If you want to have an impact on your emotional eating beyond just trying to willpower your way out of a binge you have to address the deeper underlying blocks with specific tools to shift this pattern.

This goes beyond willpower.

I’ll be sharing more about this and the most overlooked underlying causes of Emotional Eating and how you can address it.

I’ll be laying out the exact method I use to help my clients feel peace and ease around food and in their body.
