A lot of the times when I’m working with clients who struggle with Emotional Eating, they happen to be very intelligent.
They’re ambitious, they’ve done a lot of things in their life, and they are smart.
AND this can prevent you from resolving your Emotional Eating.
When you know a lot of things you think you shouldn’t have this issue. But emotional eating is not just about knowing things, it’s about embodying a process to resolve it.
It’s about going through and experience to resolve this.
It doesn’t matter how many books you read, how many podcasts you listen to, how many things you learn about nutrition and your body (and trust me I love to learn).
If you don’t know how to embody these steps and actually practice them to see the difference you’re not going to get the results you want.
This is really common for emotional eaters and was the same for me because I was very much in my mind. The reason we’re so in our mind and intellectualizing so many things is because we are disconnected from our body.
We needed to use our mind to survive and so it wasn’t safe to be in our body where the painful emotions live. Where we FEEL something.
If we didn’t have the right modelling to be able to move through these emotions, then it’s very scary to be in our body.
So we try to figure things out as much as possible. It can be scary to drop into the body and we don’t know how.
