I wanted to share more about why tactics like dieting don’t work to help Emotional Eating. 

When I was on the mission to get a handle on food, I remember being able to stick to this diet plan for a whole year through willpower. But it didn’t give me the results I wanted. 

I still went back to Emotional Eating. 

I wasn’t seeing the changes I wanted to see even after sticking to the plan rigidly for a year.

So I see this with a lot of clients – they keep trying the latest diet, exercise plan, maybe even therapy thinking this will be the thing to stop the pattern. 

You might be thinking “Maybe if I eat this certain way, fast in this certain way, workout this amount of time, or maybe going to therapy”  but what I’ve seen in clients is that this doesn’t shift the pattern and it was the same for me. 

While you *may* be learning some new information or a new way of doing things you keep falling back into your old emotional eating pattern when life becomes stressful, uncomfortable, and discomfort shows up. 

And as time goes on you can’t seem to pull yourself out of it. 

This is usually when I start working with clients when they have tried all the gimmicks, the diets, exercise plans, talk therapy, and the list goes on.

They realize they are falling back on their old patterns and there is no real change. They are yo-yo ing

So how do you move forward when it feels like this yo-yo won’t end?
