Hello love,
How can you break the cycle of emotional eating when it can feel like it keeps on happening?
You might have “breaks” where it doesn’t happen but then you’re triggered back into it again.
I’ve seen this with clients and this usually happens because you didn’t quite get into the root of your emotional eating and resolve it. Which means you haven’t found a way to change the way you are with this pattern on a deep level.
When life is more easeful or peaceful you are not triggered as much and have more capacity to willpower and fight your urges. And then big life things happen like a breakup, a divorce, a big move or something equally stressful and you don’t know how to deal with this level of stress and you’re back to using food to cope.
The clients that work with me have been able to willpower for years and have done diets for years to mitigate the impact of their emotional eating (like weight gain and feeling out of control) but at some point they just can’t do it anymore. Their willpower dries up.
So how do we break out of this emotional eating cycle?
We need to get to the root of this pattern – first become aware of it and then do the deeper work that hasn’t been done before.
