Hello love,
Triggers are so important to finding your Emotional Eating pattern and to dive in deeper into what is really going on for you.
A lot of the times when you emotionally eat what you see is the tip of the iceberg – the actual eating, going towards food or waking up after a binge.
We see the “episode” of emotional eating with the food we consumed and want to control food.
But this is the after-effect of a trigger. Something triggered you and made you automatically go towards food to soothe yourself.
When I was going through my Emotional Eating journey this is what I saw too – food as the thing I wanted to control.
I would try to stop myself, grasping at the possibility. Then feel so much shame after thinking
“Why did I do that?”
“Why can’t I stop myself?”
“Why do I feel hungry all the time?”
“Why do I feel so out of control?”
If you try to stop your Emotional Eating in that moment and don’t realize there are triggers you are going to get stuck.
