Emotional eating is the doorway to your evolution (really)! Let’s explore this together.
Usually, we want to run away from emotional eating—I know I did. It feels so uncomfortable because we feel out of control with food, and we just want to get rid of this pattern.
This is why we often fall into the trap of quick fixes—diets, exercise plans, or magic solutions—because we just want to get rid of it. We don’t want to deal with it.
But what we don’t realize is that there’s so much gold in this relationship.
Emotional eating is a coping mechanism. We use food in an addictive way to manage stressful situations and emotions.
Why is this the doorway to our evolution?
It’s like an alarm calling attention to itself. As the Rumi quote goes, “The wound is where the light enters.” Emotional eating shines a light on where we need to do the work.
Emotional eating is the doorway, and if we step through, there will be evolution on the other side.
I know, I get it. When I was navigating this issue, and even now with my clients, it doesn’t always feel that way. Because, as we become more aware of how out of control we feel around food, it’s easy to become overwhelmed by how much we obsess, the lack of confidence in our bodies, the shame we carry, and how we often use food to avoid discomfort in our relationships or at work.
When we face our emotional eating, we begin to see what we’ve been avoiding—and that’s where transformation begins.
