Hello love,
I know it might be shocking (hopefully not if you’ve been here for a minute) that Emotional Eating is not about the food.
Most of the solutions out there tell us we need to control food, that we are out of control with food because that is what we see.
Honestly, when I was an emotional eater I thought it was about the food too. I was constantly trying to control food, control my body. Trying every diet, every restriction, anything I could get my hands on because I thought I was broken.
Everyone else seemed to be able to control food and I couldn’t.
This might be shocking to you but when I talk to women they think they just need more willpower. They just need to learn to control food.
It’s not really about that – it’s about so much more.
If you think about the word Emotional Eating – emotional – emotions. It’s seems obvious it would be about emotions.
Emotions are a big part of this pattern along with trauma, unresolved events, people pleasing, boundary issues and the list goes on.
There’s so much under the surface tied to Emotional Eating.
So I’m sure you’re thinking. Why do we go to food then?
