Hello love,

I wanted to dive a bit deeper into Emotional Eating and the mother wound because this is at the core of the work I do with clients.

I think of this pattern as coming from not having our needs modelled by our mother and not having “that mothering” that we see in the media.

When I think about mothering and I think about society and what we see versus what my clients experience it is very different. So there is this idealized version and the “other” version they usually experience.

In the past when I would share my experience of my relationship to my mother and what was happening a lot of the times people felt uncomfortable because it would trigger their own discomfort. And no one wants to see their mother in this certain way.

So when I am working with clients and they tell me about their experience with their mother it makes all the sense in the world that they have Emotional Eating as a coping mechanism.

So let’s dive into the mother wound and why it impacts your Emotional Eating

  • 1:30 The connection between food and love
  • 1:55 the early needs we had as babies and when it is not met
  • 3:00 how food plays a role when we didn’t have healthy modelling with our emotions
  • 4:00 what the mother wound is really about and how it leads to coping
  • 5:25 when our deeper needs are not met we start looking for bandaids
  • 7:00 why thinking something is wrong with us makes us use food to soothe
  • 7:35 learning to meet your own needs with this pattern to get to confidence
