Hello love,

Today I wanted to share about the holidays and getting through them as as emotional eater because this time of year can be more triggering.

What I find with clients is that any holidays, get togethers, gatherings can be a triggering time. You’re around more people and especially around family. During these times you might be given advice or unsolicited comments that don’t feel good at all.

It’s important to understand that our family environment is where we most likely developed the Emotional Eating coping mechanism when we were very young. Usually, family interactions haven’t evolved in the way they speak to you or interact with you.

It’s up to you to be proactive about how you’re going to move through the holidays.

Because you can’t just head into the holidays thinking (again) you can control this.

You need to be proactive in looking at triggers and moving through them.

I want to share a client example who was in The EEE Program during the holidays and would get triggered by negative comments her family made about her body. She was able to move through the holidays with more confidence because she started to do the work proactively.

Let’s dive in:

  • 1:56 Connecting back to food, true hunger and her body in an accepting way
  • 3:49 Doing the deeper work to catch triggers and resolve them at the root
  • 4:22 Having tools to navigate this time and using them to create embodied boundaries
  • 6:45 What to do if you haven’t starting resolving your emotional eating and do emotionally eat during the holidays
  • 9:18 Free resources and next steps
