In today’s video I wanted to talk about how your digestion, or indigestion can affect the way you look.

When I had digestive issues I started to notice my hair was drier, there was some pre-mature greying, I had consistent acne and I also gained some weight. Understanding the connection between poor digestion and the way I looked was key. I knew something had to change. I started to focus on optimizing my digestion. My hair returned to it’s shiny, healthy state and my skin started to have an inner glow. It was a miracle 😉

Are you experiencing any of the following?

  • bloating after meals
  • excessive gas that has an odour
  • feeling ‘heavy’ after a meal
  • constipation
  • inflammation of the skin (acne, redness, itching, eczema)
  • dulling of the skin
  • premature aging of the skin
  • premature greying of your hair
  • weight gai
  • brittle nails
  • low energy after meals

It might seem obvious that the food put in our bodies and the digestion of it affects the way we look. It wasn’t that obvious to me! It took me many years to see the connection.

What’s Going On?

Abusing the system with processed foods or not the best foods will deteriorate the digestive system. The digestive tract will not function well and food will not be broken down into basic nutrients.  The digestive tract is external to the rest of the body. If food is not broken down it cannot be absorbed into the system in a useful manner. Larger pieces of food that crosses into the body create inflammation.

Another thing that can cause digestive distress is if we are not using the right strategies around food. Like chewing well and remaining calm.

So, we must start to heal our gut to create healthy beautiful cells. Which become healthy hair, skin, nails and so on.

5 Strategies to Try to Help with Digestion:

  1. Make sure you are calm before you eat. This switches you to the right nervous system in order to digest well.

  2. Chew well – the stomach doesn’t have teeth

  3. Food Combine – try this one aspect: Eat fruit on an empty stomach to prevent bloating

  4. Hydrate 30-45 minutes before or after a meal so that the digestive process is not slowed down!

  5. Choosing the best foods for your body. This can be whole, organic, real foods making sure to eliminate foods that you have an intolerance or sensitivity to.
