Following our successful dinner party I woke up to a kitchen full of dishes. Thank god my fiance had rinsed everything and even offered to help wash the dishes (he actually did all the dishes as I ran off to a dance class!)
I spent the morning sipping ginger, lemon and cayenne tea. Kimberly Snyder calls this an immunity tea. I can see why.
Ginger boosts immunity by increasing our lymphatic circulation. Our lymph system is what battles infections throughout the body. It is also great for nausea and digestion.
Cayenne helps to increase circulation in the body too. This helps to detoxify our body.
Lemon helps cleanse the liver; our main detoxifying and fat burning agent. Lemon also alkalinizes our body.
How to make it:
- Grate a 1 inch piece of fresh ginger and place it into a tea ball or infuser. I like this one by David’s tea. Cover with half a cup of hot water.
- Let steep for a few minutes and strain.
- Add cool water to remaining tea to make the overall temperature warm.
- Add the juice of half a fresh lemon (Make sure the water is not too hot as that will destroy all the beneficial enzymes in the lemon, and we don’t want that!) and a dash of cayenne.
- Stir and sip!
I have this tea every morning and sometimes in the evening too (especially after a heavy meal!)
