I wanted to talk a little more about this void we use food to fill. This is the main reason we emotionally eat. Whenever we feel any discomfort or stress we run to food.
Of course this doesn’t work because it is temporary and doesn’t get to the root. Food is simply a substitute.
A lot of the times we don’t know what the real root of our emotional eating is. The solutions that are given to us are about control, and behaviour changes which are surface solutions.
But control and behaviour change is on the surface. We need to dive deeper to see what is creating this pattern at the root.
Today I want to share with you more about this journey and how to get to these roots.
This was my journey as well when I was dieting, emotionally eating and trying to look a certain way. I was looking for a way to stop feeling awful and start feeling better.
The sad thing about our society is that we are told to ignore, dismiss or distract from our emotions. We are then constantly being sold these bandaid solutions and magic bullets to help emotional eating but they don’t connect us to ourselves.
When I was on this journey I wanted to feel free, at ease, I didn’t want these obsessive thoughts about food, and be on the hamster wheel tying diet after diet. I wanted something sustainable that would give me space to focus on my life.
As I look back the keys I found and that I use with clients work holistically and it became the foundation to The Emotional Eating Evolution Program. We are not just our thoughts, or emotions, or what we eat. We are ALL of it combined.
Each one of us is unique but what I’ve found with this pattern is that we are all disconnected from our food, our body and our emotions. We need to relearn a new way, resolve the old way and get to the roots of this pattern in order for it to dissolve.
