This past winter I traveled to India and had the opportunity to visit the foothills of the Himalayas in Rishikesh – the birth place of Goji berries! Sadly, I didn’t get to see any berries but that’s what health food stores are for, right?! Today, I wanted to share a latte that I have been enjoying non-stop for the last few weeks. I have it later in the evening if I’m still a bit peckish or in need of some warm love. This Goji Latte is a beautiful orange colour and overflowing with antioxidants and amazing nutrients! Just looking at it makes me feel better.

Go go goji!

Goji berries are also known as wolfberries and have been used in Chinese Medicine for over 6000 years. Wow, that’s insane! Goji berries can boost your immune system due to the high vitamin C content and can improve brain function too. They contain 18 amino acids and help in building protein in the body. They contain a lot of iron (9g/100g) making them a blood building food. Pound for pound, Goji berries have more beta-carotene than carrots. Beta-carotene is converted to vitamin A in the body and helps to maintain clear blemish-free skin and perfect vision. Goji berries as a whole contain an insane amount of antioxidants which  helps to combat free radical damage and slows the ageing process. Yay!

I have been seeing goji lattes around town and whenever I ask about the ingredients I get put off. They are usually made with syrups and not the actual goji berry not to mention that syrup = sugar. No thanks. This recipe is fabulously processed-food-free. Now on to the recipe…
