Hello love,

Shame is an important topic for emotional eaters. A lot of my clients eat in private, in secret and hold the shame inside.

They feel something is wrong with them and their body.

They stay in hiding until they gain enough courage (or are in too much pain) and find a supportive program.

Emotional eating is a coping mechanism and addictive behaviour that we have a lot of shame around. We feel what we are doing is not healthy and so we hide. We also hide because we don’t know how to resolve this.

When we hide and don’t acknowledge the pattern it grows in secret and fills us with more shame.

When it becomes overwhelming we might look for a way to resolve it. But even then we might still feel shame in admitting this behaviour.

Safe places…

I want to share with you why it’s important to seek out guidance and mentorship that is a safe space.

It’s important to make sure that your guide will not shame you and that you can be open and share. In programs not aware of the deeper pattern of emotional eating may tell you that you need more willpower or to push through.

This adds to that critical voice in your head and may trigger more emotional eating.

Sometimes we are so hard on ourselves and feel we “should” get it right away and think that is how others will treat us or should.

It’s important to be aware of the method a mentor uses. Having a guide and community helps to take away the judgemental internal voice because you start understanding this pattern, expose it and feel seen by others. This starts to break down the shame.

Acceptance…

This allows you get into a place of acceptance. This means you see the reality of it. You don’t have to like or love where you are at, at all. This gives you a starting point that is true.

Moving Forward…

From here you can move forward with grounded steps. This is how you can resolve this pattern, from a grounded place.

I cultivate this in The Emotional Eating Evolution Program because this was my journey and this was the process I used to move through it and how I guide my clients.

So we move from shame to understanding and acceptance and then moving forward. This is how you can resolve this pattern and finally feel confident in your body and around food.
